7 month update

Noah has his first tooth! Yeah!

Well, it was hard work, but he got his first tooth just last week. Now biting daddy’s nose is more rewarding when daddy screams \”ouch.\”

Noah turned 7 months old today. He’s crawling around everywhere and getting into everything. Luckily he hasn’t discovered the kitchen yet. Max is learning that he can’t lay in one spot for too long before Noah finds him and pulls out some fur.

Noah is still always ready to smile although teething has made him a little cranky lately. Some days are better than others. He’s so darn cute though!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Noah, happy birthday to you!

He’s 6 months old today! What a cute little guy. Here’s the update for you so far. He’s REALLY active. Noah went to the doctor for his 6 month checkup this morning and he’s doing great and growing like a weed. The doc said he can start eating more rice cereal now and start eating baby food. So, we begin the endeavor of tasting all kinds of new foods. Nate and I are equally anxious to see how Noah likes pureed peas (I’ll certainly understand if he doesn’t like them)

Noah has no signs of any teeth coming in yet. He certainly likes to gum everything, especially daddy’s nose.

Noah loves to roll and roll and roll and be in constant motion. We had a three hour mass service for Easter vigil and let me tell you, it was a fight to keep him still for that long. Noah can sit up by himself now and pull himself into the sitting position. He also tries to crawl but takes a nose dive when he takes one hand out from under himself to suck his thumb. He’s a big thumb sucker these days. This crawling thing is going to take a while until he learns that he can’t suck his thumb and crawl at the same time!

Lately his favorite things to do are blow raspberries, “talk,” and do this funny thing where he wrinkles his nose and breathes really fast like he’s impatient to get something. He also likes to ring his wind chimes that hang from the ceiling fan in his room. I’ll tell Noah that we’re going to play with the chimes and he immediately looks up and reaches for them. Baths are especially fun and Noah enjoys splashing in the big tub and playing with his rubber ducky.

Here are Noah’s results from his doc appointment this morning. Thanks for visiting!

6 month post from Dad

Well, here is a message from Dad. Noah is almost 6 months old now, and it’s incredible how short the time seems. It makes me want to slow time down as much as possible. We put the finishing touches on Noah’s room this weekend with some much needed shelves to store the plethora of playthings that Noah is already accumulating.

Noah is starting to get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth. That is until he spies something he wants to get and lifts a hand to reach for it. Then he falls over and rolls on to his back. I think he’d be crawling by now if it wasn’t for him always having one hand in his mouth. That makes it hard to keep your balance.

Everyday, I am just amazed at the new things that he’s learning. I’d like to say he’s learning things like Shakespeare and advanced mathematics, but instead it’s usually things like eating his toes and blowing raspberries. Lofty achievements non the less. All he has to do is flash us a smile, and we think he’s the cutest baby in the world. Which he is of course.

Well, that’s all for now, we’re off to meet cousin Samuel for his baptism, so there’ll be some comparison pictures no doubt. Be sure and check them out.

Nate (Dad)

5 months old

Oh my gosh! Our little boy is 5 months old today! How exciting! He’s growing so fast.

Noah’s day’s are consisting of lots of playtime with mom and dad, plunking on the piano and reading lots of Dr. Seuss. Sometimes he takes naps but we can’t always count on that! Noah started sleeping through the night at around his 4 month birthday. Mom is appreciating the extra sleep now. He has also started his new endeavor of rice cereal. He gets one bowl a day for supper with mom and dad. So far he really likes it. We can’t wait to let him try better tasting foods but we have to wait until he’s at least 6 months old. I guess he’ll have plenty of time to try everything later on.

Noah loves to roll around the living room and explore different things. If we put him down in one spot he’ll be across the room 10 minutes later. Therefore, we made the trip to the store to buy all the baby-proofing items we’ll need. It’s fun seeing him be able to get around on his own and gain some independence.

Noah now has his first cousin, Samuel, who was born on February 8. Samuel is a real handsome guy. The Baxleys sure produce some great kids! We’re excited for Noah to meet Samuel on Easter at Samuel’s baptism in Peoria.

Check out Noah’s new photos if you haven’t already done so. He’s growing fast!

4 months old

Hi everyone!

We hope you are enjoying the pictures of Noah. He loves to ham it up for the camera.

Noah is progressing so well and growing like a weed. He is just starting to eat some rice cereal now mixed with lots of milk. More of the cereal goes on his bib than down his throat though. It’s interesting to watch a baby learn how to eat! He has also started liking to hear his own voice now. His latest thing is squealing at the top of his lungs. Screaming is his way of singing when mom plays the piano with him. Noah has been rolling over for quite some time now, just about since Christmas. He loves to ride around in his front carrier and squeal at everything he sees, which makes going to the mall fun. He’s growing out of his clothes very fast these days.

Well, that’s the update for Noah as of 4 months! He goes back again on April 3 for his 6 month checkup! He’s growing up so quickly!

10/12/01 – 7 lbs, 10 oz, 21 1/2 in. (a little over 1 week old
11/06/01 – 10 lbs, 8 oz, 23 in. (1 month old)
12/04/01 – 12 lbs, 13 oz, 26 in. (2 months old)
2/4/02 – 15 lbs, 14 oz, 27 1/2 in. (4 months old)

Growing like a weed

WOW!

Isn’t Noah growing like a weed?!! We can’t believe how big he’s getting and so fast too! He’s almost out of 3-6 months clothing sizes. Grandma McCollum is keeping Carters in business buying Noah clothes. Socks are another story. His feet are still way huge.

Noah started sleeping in his crib on January 1st without a hitch. He didn’t even notice the bed change, but mom sure did. Nothing like walking across the cold house at 3 a.m. to feed him. Sometimes Nate volunteers to bring Noah to me for his feeding, that is, if Nate wakes up:) Max is much happier now that Noah has changed beds.

Noah spends his days going places with mom, playing with his toys and reading stories (ok, mom reads them to him). He is just tall enough to play in his megasaucer, which he loves because he likes to stand up and this holds him in the standing position.

He enjoyed a visit from Grandpa & Grandma McCollum last weekend. His Christmas was certainly a fun first Christmas. He was such a good baby the entire time and loved being passed around from relative to relative. What a ham. His smile is always ready to appear, as you can see in most of his pictures.

That’s the update for Noah. He doesn’t go to the doctor until Feb. 5 for his 4 month checkup. We’ll let you know how he has progressed!

For the record:

10/12/01 – 7 lbs, 10 oz, 21 1/2 in. (a little over 1 week old
11/06/01 – 10 lbs, 8 oz, 23 in. (1 month old)
12/04/01 – 12 lbs, 13 oz, 26 in. (2 months old)

Growing like a weed

2 months in …

Well, Noah just got back from his 2 month checkup with his pediatrician today. He now weighs 12 lbs, 13 oz and is 26 inches long! The doctor said he’s going to be a tall boy. I can believe it! Noah had his first Thanksgiving and got to meet all his aunts and uncles and some cousins last weekend. He was such a good baby the entire time. We can’t wait to return to IL for Christmas (yeah, even though that car trip is darn long).

He’s going to be spoiled at Christmas, that’s for sure. Mom and dad can’t resist buying him things.

That’s the update for Noah. Thanks for visiting his website and don’t forget to check it for new pictures every week! Noah’s mom loves to take pictures of him:)

Wow. Is Noah growing or what!!

I took him to his doctor yesterday for his one month checkup. He is up to 10 lbs. 8 oz and 23 inches. He has gained 3 lbs in one month. What a chunk!

Noah’s days consist of sleeping, eating, diaper changes and the occasional playing with mom and dad while laying on his play mat and flailing his arms and legs and cooing. He’s started to follow us with his eyes and smile at us now. Before his smiles were just gas, but they were still pretty cute though.

Max (the cat) is doing well with the baby as long as he gets some attention during the days and evenings too. Usually if one of us is holding Noah, the other is holding Max.

We’re trying to get a small movie clip of Noah uploaded to the page but the file is really big. Our web developer will certainly try to do his best.

Well, that’s the update on Noah. What a cutie!

Officially, Noah’s mom

Wow. I can’t believe I’m actually a mom. I never thought that I would see this day!

Labor started late Monday morning with a contractions really far apart. At about 11:00 p.m. they were 5 min. apart so we headed to the hospital only to get there and they slowed down and I wasn’t dilated far enough so I was sent home. Contractions continued through the night sporadically and got stronger on Tuesday, which we again headed to the hospital at around 6:30 p.m. and this time I was ready to go. My epidural was started around 8:00 p.m. and before we knew it was time to push and Noah was there at 12:01 Wednesday morning. The only complication I had was when I delivered the placenta I also delivered my uterus, which is not supposed to happen! It’s called an inverted uterus where the placenta doesn’t detach and the uterus turns inside out and comes out too. Anyway, the doctor was able to “shove” it back in, which as horribly painful even with anesthesia. Noah was also having trouble breathing so he was taken away to the NICU for a couple hours. Nate was able to go to the NICU and take some photos of Noah. The nurse brought Noah to me after I was settled into another hospital room and he was breathing just fine.

My last diary entry was one of a frustrated overdue pregnant lady. This one is one of an elated proud parent. Noah is such a blessing. Yes, even at 3 a.m. when he decides to keep us awake I’m still happy to have him. I may be looking at this pretty one sided but he really is a beautiful baby. He loves to cuddle and doesn’t like to have his diaper changed.

No one is sure who he looks like. I think he may be a good mixture of both Nate and I. He has the cutest face and he looks like a little elf when he has a hat on. His feet are HUGE for a baby’s feet. He must have our families’ big feet syndrome!

Nate has been a wonderful father and partner through all this. He was wonderful during my labor and he’s always doing something for the baby or holding him. God blessed me with a wonderful husband and best friend.

Well, that’s the update on my experience so far. Hope to hear from you soon!

Officially,
Noah’s mom

Noah has arrived

Well, all of the waiting is over. We had Noah on Wednesday October 3rd and 12:01 in the morning. That’s just after midnight. He weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce and was 20 inches long.

He’s got long legs and arms, and big feet. He really is the cutest thing though. He’s a great eater already, and we’re having no troubles breast feeding him. Both he and Sharon are doing fine. We’ll be bringing him home Friday morning.

Sharon was having contractions as early as Monday afternoon, and after one false trip Monday night, and a lot of contractions Tuesday, we went in Tuesday night around 7:00. After all that, it only took 5 hours to get him out, and only 40 minutes of that was pushing. Sharon did great!

Well, I have to get back to the hospital and check on Sharon and Noah. Be sure to check out the new pictures in Noah’s album, and read Sharon’s diary entry on 9/24 to get some sense of our frustrations leading up to this.

We’ll get more pictures and stuff up once we get back home. Tell all your friends to come see our cute baby! 🙂
